Project Planner
Wall Cladding
Lay out slats, battens, section plans, and stock cutting plans for a wall cladding project.
What you can customise
Set each wall section, cladding direction, gaps, material sizes, and stock lengths to match the space.
What the planner outputs
Get colour-keyed section plans, grouped cut lists, and clear cladding and batten purchase quantities.
When to use it
Compare layouts or plan a timber feature wall before ordering materials and starting installation.
From plan to project
Installation instructions
Use each generated section plan as a setting-out guide. Confirm the wall condition and fixing method before cutting or installing materials.
Prepare and mark the wall
Check that the substrate is sound, locate concealed services, and mark a level datum. Select plugs, screws, or other fixings designed for the wall construction.
Install the mounting battens
Fix the battens perpendicular to the cladding at the positions shown in the section plan. Keep them level and in one plane so the finished cladding sits flat.
Support material joints
Make butt joints between batten lengths only where both ends can be fixed securely. Where a cladding run needs multiple lengths, place each butt joint over a batten and stagger visible joins where practical.
Fix the cladding
Work from the datum and use a spacer to maintain the planned gaps. Fix every slat to each batten using the fixing method recommended for the cladding material.
The planner does not assess wall strength, hidden services, moisture, fire requirements, or fixing pull-out loads. Check the proposed system is suitable for the room, substrate, and local requirements.
